There are numerous amounts of research that show sitting in one position for long periods of time can lead to health concerns. Possible issues include obesity, increased blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels and more.
The body was meant to move so when we prevent it from doing so then muscles can start to deteriorate. Neck and back pain are common problems for people that sit at a desk in their workplace. While it may not be realistic to go for a walk every hour of the workday; it is possible to do a few stretches right at your office chair. Pottstown YMCA instructor Mihae Blank demonstrated several poses that can be done in a chair to stretch different muscles of the body.
